Dr hab. Ulrike Topf graduated from the University in Freiburg, Germany. She did her doctoral work at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research in Switzerland and obtained her PhD in biological sciences in 2011. She completed her postdoctoral training in IIMCB and CeNT/ UW and since 2018 is leading an independent research group at IBB PAS in Warsaw. Ulrike`s research interests focus on the identification of cellular mechanisms to maintain protein homeostasis during stress conditions and ageing. She uses yeast S. cerevisiae and the nematode C. elegans in her research as model organisms. Her research work contributed important findings on posttranscriptional response mechanisms upon mitochondrial stress. These included modulation of global protein synthesis and protein degradation. Ulrike received scholarships from Swiss National Science Foundation, MNiSW, and L`Oreal Poland for Women in Science. Her research is funded by National Science Centre Poland.
