Przyznawana od 2024 roku

 

Purpose

The Acta Biochimica Polonica Journal Awards, established by the Polish Biochemical Society, aim to recognize outstanding contributions to biochemical research published in the Acta Biochimica Polonica journal.

Award Categories

The following three award categories are established:

Best Paper Award: Recognizes the experimental paper published (within the previous calendar year) in Acta Biochimica Polonica that demonstrates exceptional scientific quality, significance, and originality.

Best Paper by Young Investigator Award: Acknowledges the outstanding experimental paper authored (first, equal contribution or corresponding author) by a young investigator, defined as an individual who has completed their academic degree (max. PhD) within the past five years at the time of paper acceptance to Acta Biochimica Polonica.

Best Review Paper Award: Honors the review (or short review) article published in Acta Biochimica Polonica that provides an exceptional overview and synthesis of current research trends and developments in the field of biochemistry.

Eligibility

Papers eligible for consideration for the Acta Biochimica Polonica Journal Awards must be published in the Acta Biochimica Polonica journal within the previous calendar year.

Nomination and Selection Process

Nominations for the Acta Biochimica Polonica Journal Awards may be made by members of the Editorial Board. The selection committee proposed (and chaired) be Chief Editor (prof. Grzegorz Węgrzyn), appointed by the Polish Biochemical Society Executive Committee, shall consist of experts in the field of biochemistry and members of the Acta Biochimica Polonica Editorial Board. The selection committee shall evaluate nominated papers based on criteria such as scientific excellence, significance of the research, clarity of presentation, and originality.

Award Presentation

The Acta Biochimica Polonica Journal Awards shall be presented annually during a ceremony organized by the Acta Biochimica Polonica and Polish Biochemical Society. Recipients of the awards shall receive a certificate of recognition and may be invited to present their work at the zoom award ceremony or special Gala Ceremony or at a meeting of Polish Biochemical Society (every second year). The first Award Ceremony (to recognize papers published in 2024) will be planned in Spring 2025 by the zoom award ceremony.

Final regulations

These regulations shall take effect upon approval by the Council of the Polish Biochemical Society. All detailed regulations, including: calendar of activities, will be determined by the editorial staff of Acta Biochimica Polonica.
